Long time...no post

Hello world- It has been a very very long time since I last blogged...shame on my part because there are so many amazing things happening in my life! I'm sitting up late on a Saturday night after being by myself and getting some work done all day and I feel like sharing something to anyone. I'm tired and I should just go to bed but I'm having a hard time moving from the couch. I have so much to write about that I'm not exactly sure where to start. I think that I am going to keep this one short and start fresh tomorrow or Monday. I think that writing stuff down more and documenting all of my experiences will be beneficial to me. Well I'm going to get some sleep (and extra hour because we fall back tonight)!

 Until later....

Things will get better if you just hold my hand....

I don't have a picture to go with today, so I thought I would post a video instead.

I love music a lot and I'm one of those people who relates the lyrics to my life. I know thats kinda lame but if you don't really listen to the lyrics, try it some time. It might surprise you how much the lyrics speak to you. The song I posted is "Hold My Hand" by Michael Jackson ft. Akon. I know some of you right now and going "OMG Michael Jackson!!!!!!" Well in case you didn't know, I love MJ's music. He is an amazing artist and I've honestly gotten over his past of what he did or didn't do because we will honestly never know the truth. Don't judge me ;)

I really love this song and it makes me feel good if I'm ever feeling down. I honestly think that things will get better if you just hold someones hand or give someone a hug because thats the best feeling in the world (which is why I hug a lot)! If you haven't heard this song, take a listen and enjoy!

Just another day...

Second day of classes....nothing special. I had Science for K-8 teachers with Kelly (btw, we have assigned seats and we aren't in the same group. Oh and our groups are on opposite sides of the room...it sucks) then I had work, then I went to my Social Problems class, then I went back to work for an hour, then I went to my Intellectual Disability class, then back to work for a third time to help Reba. It was a lot of running back and forth on campus. Later that night was the first Best Buddies meeting of the semester!

History of Magic

Just kidding...

I wish I was starting the second semester of my third year at Hogwarts but I'm just starting my 6th semester at GV! I started the day with Psychology of Physical Disabilities and then History of Medicine. Then I worked 2 1/2 hours more than I was supposed too and then had a staff meeting. It was a pretty good day, nothing too special.

Heres a sideways picture of just a few of my books (when I say few I mean 3 of like 13 this semester)haha

P.S. Happy 6 year and 3 month anniversary to John...love you!

Christmas in.....January

I couldn't think of a better way to spend the night before the new semester with my best friends. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner by Kelly then did our gift exchange. It was so nice hanging out since it had been awhile.

Kelly MADE these slippers for us...they are super warm :)

Training: Day 2

Today was the second day of training. It was pretty much all in-area time which consisted of programming, duty scheduling, team development, and working on our skit for "Housing's Got Talent." I like the training where we get to hang out as a staff and have fun but get stuff done. WHOJR decided to do a housing spin on Nick Jr (Who Jr....get it hahaha). Our main theme was Dora, who was played by Meg. Dora encountered Blues Clues and Bob the Builder on her adventure. I played Swiper and did a pretty good job! I still have people calling me Swiper. I would say that our skit was in the top 3 if not the best!!! Everyone did such a great job and it was a fun night with everyone in housing :)

This is a picture of us getting ready to practice!

Training: Day 1

Today was the first day of Winter training. RA's know how to turn a long day of training into lots of fun. I am in love with my job and all the people that have come into my life because of it. I have an AMAZING staff and have made some life long friends. Junior year has been amazing so far and being an RA has made some of the best memories! The picture above is of Stefan and Tom. I've know Tom since freshman year because he was an RA in the community I lived in. I really look up to Tom as an RA and as a person in general. And Stefan...Stefan is an amazing guy and a great friend. He always gives me hugs and makes me smile. I'm super pumped for all of our duty nights we have together :)

P.S. I don't think they know I took this picture haha it was the only good one from that day of training

Ready for a quickie?

I declare my break officially OVER! I have way to much stuff to do before 9am tomorrow...oh the life of being an RA :)

I worked 10 hours in the mail room today. I logged a lot of packages and saw a few people but other than that I either worked on my door decs or was trying to finish the community read.

I need to prep for training tomorrow still! I need to plan out everything for my bulletin board (so I can get all the supplies tomorrow morning so I can finish that tomorrow night), find my schedule and make sure I have all my dates for duty, interviews and all that jazz figured out, and finish my community read book (which I have like 20pgs left) hence why this post is a quickie.

I promise I will post something a little longer after training tomorrow!! Have a great Friday :)

Heres my day 3 picture! All (55) of my door decs cut out. I still have to make them look pretty with construction paper and stuff but I'm pretty pumped about them :) I hope my residents like them as well.

Welcome to Aleutian!

OK, so last night John and I went to The Oasis Hot Tub Gardens (http://oasishottubs.com/). John's sister, Leah, told us about Oasis last week and we wanted to check it out! So pretty much you make a reservation and your party gets its own private hot tub. When you first walk in they have a changing area and a shower. Then you go through a door to your tub! Each room has a different theme to it and John and I were in Aleutian. Our tub was HUGE and it was an "open" room so we got to enjoy the cold wind while soaking in the hot water. It was a very relaxing hour and we will for sure be going again! Oh, and they have gardens in Ann Arbor, Kzoo, and Grand Rapids....I might see if some of my friends wanna go :)

I couldn't get a great picture, but this is our tub!

Anyways...I'm back in Allendale, hanging out/unpacking by myself hahaha. I miss my family already but I'm excited to get back into the swing of things. I have a long list of things that I need to get done so we'll see how that goes :)

Heres my picture for day 2! Right after I got back to school looking out from my building. Lots of snow unlike the East side!

New year, new blog

OK, so I want to blog and I figured that since its a new year I should just start new on my blog. Out with the old and in with the new! 2011 has been a great year so far (even though we're only 4 days in) and I can't already tell that its going to be just at great as 2010. Heres a recap of the past few days:

Jan 1st- I rang in the new year with Tori, Rachel, Ricky, and John. We are high school friends who have stayed so close so we had a good time. We all stayed the night at Tori's and since we were up late we slept in. Once we got up we had a yummy breakfast and sat around for a bit. Once I got back home around 2...everyone was still sleeping/still in a bed. Lets just say it was a quiet Saturday at the Allmayer house.

Jan 2nd- I started off the day by going to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 with Colleen and my dad. It was the 3rd time I've seen the movie and I would honestly watch it everyday if I could. I did various things through out the day like nap, sit on Facebook, read, and knit. Later that night I went to John's house and we watched Inception. We saw it 2 times in theaters and I can't get enough of it. When I got home from John, my Harry Potter Film Wizardry book was waiting for me! It is an amazing book with so much information about the HP films (which I am obsessed with if you didn't know).

Jan 3rd- I actually got up around like 10:30 or so (I think.....haha) but I stayed in bed and watched the episode of Desperate Housewives that I missed on Sunday. I then helped my mom take down some Christmas decorations then we went out to lunch! We also went to Salvation Army and Kroger (I got some stuff to take back to school with me!) I spent the rest of my night reading The Immortal Life of Heneritta Lacks and my HP book, knitting, watching Pretty Little Liars, and working on some crafts.

Today- I got up early AGAIN...I'm trying to get back on a good sleeping schedule...I went to the mall and got some stuff at Bath and Body Works and got some yummy Apple Lemon Pomegranate and Peppermint tea from Teavana. I rented Percy Jackson and Olympians: The Lightning Thief from Redbox so I can see the ending and treated myself to some amazing Chinese food. I'm now just hanging around until I go out with John tonight which I will blog about tomorrow!

A few of my friends are doing this Project 365 thing where they take and post a picture everyday. I'm starting a few days late but I guess I will just go a few days into 2012 :)

Heres a picture of most of the things I talked about above!

Day 1

I know this is a long post but I hope you enjoy...Now I'm going to go enjoy my last night in Farmington!
